Rall Wines 2022
Donovan Rall released a wine under his own name for the first time from the 2008 harvest. The new 2022s are therefore his 15th, and these are now without a doubt among the best wines in the country.

According to Donovan, the Rall White 2022 may be his " favourite to date " and " certainly the most focused and age worthy white in this year's release ". In addition, the Rall Red 2021, always released a year later than the other wines to allow its tannins to integrate, is a solid blend awarded Platter's 5*, just like the white blend.

An Elvama favorite is the unique Rall Cinsault Blanc 2022 , still the first and only bottling of Cinsault blanc in the world. The wine comes from a small vineyard of 0.2 hectares in Wellington.

The Rall Grenache Blanc 2022 from Piekenierskloof is sleek, focused and wonderfully fresh. His Rall Cinsault 2022 from Darling uses semi-carbonic maceration and maturation in part concrete and French oak, creating a wine with crisp tannins and an abundance of fruit to bring balance

New in the range is the Rall Concrete Syrah 2022 , already the second year of this syrah but the first year available at Elvama! These grapes come from one of the vineyards that is also used for the Ava Syrah. Naturally fermented with 100% whole bunches and aged only in concrete. Despite a modest alcohol content of only 12.5%, this wine has a beautiful structure, a savory taste and a very expressive nose of fynbos and dark herbs.

The Rall NOA Chenin Blanc 2022 comes from a vineyard on Paardeberg from 1969. Vinified in concrete eggs and foudres, it's all about a tight texture and structure

The Rall AVA Chenin Blanc 2022 , with a small production of 1,307 bottles, comes from two vineyards in Swartland with mainly slate soil. Low yields provide a unique texture that is slightly fuller and richer than the NOA.

Now in its 6th release, the Rall AVA Syrah 2022 is the most expressive and aromatic red wine he has ever made, according to Donovan. The Ava is a small selection of Syrah from the most extreme and low-yielding plots that Donovan works with.
